Week 53--When a prophet says jump say how high

Hi Loved Ones,

WOW what an amazing Conference. Thomas S. Monson's talk...something about it just made me cry from start to finish. Didn't really happen with any other talk except his. How lucky we are to have a prophet. But it really doesn't matter unless we do what he says! Get a testimony of the Book of Mormon! If you already have one, deepen it!!

This week we were really excited to share the message of conference EVERYONE. We are still working a lot with members and the Flint family one evening at dinner said they had been feeling a strong desire to help. They asked what they could do and we said we wanted pass along cards for conf. They made us a bunch and we handed all of them out!

Before we started, I had a dream of the things we were supposed to say as we were introducing the concept of General Conference to people, and woke up and wrote it down. The next day we PC'd and talked to a new record of people in one day! Just about everyone we talked to was willing to listen with this approach! SO many people were responsive and interested in the message of prophets.

We have been really learning patience as we've tried more and more to help members to identify friends who they could refer to the missionaries. Last week we practiced teaching the Plan of Salvation to the Fischvogt family. After Sister Fischvogt said, "If you Sisters want to come back at 7, we have cheesecake, and we'll be having our friend Danny over." Our appt cancelled, {divine intervention!} and we went over there. It was casual, but we got into a Gospel conversation, and Danny asked, "What makes your church different anyways?" A conversation can really get out of hand with a question like that, and kinda did! ðŸ˜‚ But we told him that the main difference is prophets, and taught about the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

He really liked what he had to say and expressed discontent with his own church. We gave him a pamphlet and invited him to hear the discussions, but they have a lot of kids and everyone was kind of talking at once and were wanting to talk about this that and the other. Afterwards, we asked him for a return appt. He said he needed a bit of time, but would get back. It was a great experience, but I went away feeling like it was a missed opportunity, and wondered if the Fischvogts didn't trust us and for that reason didn't ask him themselves to come over for a discussion.

This week, Sister Fischvogt said she got a call from Danny. He said, "We need to have a talk about this Joseph Smith guy." Sister F said, "Long talk or short talk?" "Long talk," he said. "Do I need to bring the Sisters?" He told her they'd cross that bridge when they get there. She seemed really excited and revealed that it had been over 10 years since she had invited missionaries over to meet her non-member friends. What I thought had been kind of a lukewarm experience is kind of exciting!

I love you, but Jesus loves you best!
Sister Pugmire
