Week 27--Galatians 5:22-23--Against such there is no law

Hey Loved Ones,

I'm getting to know the area better! I love it so much and am so thankful to be here. I got to go help in the temple last week and it was so much fun.

There is a lot of work to do, and while we have a lot of resources here it is going to take a lot of work and organization. And working on improving my teaching skills too! I had a training at my last District Meeting and invited a member of the ward, Brother Garner, to come talk about the challenges and benefits working in this area, since every single missionary in the district is newer. He compared it to when he was in the richest area in his mission in Argentina. He was there for over seven months and had two baptisms, very low for that mission. But he said those converts went on to stay active their whole lives and be Bishops and counselors! He said even though the converts may be harder to come by, they usually turn out to be very solid people. That's how it is with our investigators. Three out of five are member referrals, and very solid people and the ones progressing the most.

Because our teaching pool is so much smaller here, I will likely be able to talk about every investigator! 😁 Evelyn and Yiqun (pronounced Ee-choon--they're Taiwanese) are amazing. Yiqun is a professor and Evelyn is an RN. They have two babies, Annie and Abbie. They love the Church and the people, but they both want evidence that it's true. Last lesson they got into an argument with the member we had along about "how long is technically considered a generation--20 or 40 years?" and if there was "substantial enough evidence that there had indeed been pestilence in the 'generation' surrounding Joseph's Smith's prediction of the Civil War." 😌🤔😏 We're having a lesson on recognizing the Spirit next time.

Tiffany is another progressing investigator. She loves the Church and has been church hopping for a long time trying to find the true one. She wants to be baptized ASAP and really REALLY wants to repent. But we are her fifth set of missionaries in only two months because of transfers, and she says she is afraid to open up spiritually to us when we may be gone next week. She says she will only meet with us if we have a member present 😄🙌🙏 {Praise thank.} She also was afraid to admit to us that she has problems with Joseph Smith being a prophet, and fearing condemnation if she accepts a false prophet. But we were able to resolve concerns as we talked about prophets in Bible that weren't perfect, but God still showed his power through them. And recognizing the Spirit! Galatians 5:22-23

It's really making me work on my teaching skills, and resolving concerns, because they are very committed and both of them already live very closely the lifestyle.

And I 💟 you, but Jesus loves you best,
Sister Pugmire
