Week 51--The Greatest

Hey Loved Ones,

THINGS I NEVER THOUGHT WOULD HAPPEN AS A MISSIONARY:
#41: I had this dream. In it, I was with Jesus and he was a teenager and we were both in the temple learning about practical applications of the Law of Moses. I realized I had been coveting and had way too many sins for the amount of pigeons I had. I raised my hand and asked the teacher if I could use parakeets instead. She said no; that was only allowed if you were practicing the Law of Moses in the Americas. πŸ˜πŸ¦πŸ•ŠπŸ¦
#42: Got to hold a baby teacup piglet! A few hours old! πŸ·πŸ–πŸ½

Sister Linder got a calling this week! Her first one ever! She has been called to be a Relief Society teacher. She and Brother Linder were out of town this weekend and so when she was sustained in sacrament meeting, Sister Giles and I were both silently freaking out! So excited! When we texted her, she said, "I listened to the talk a few times. Now to pray about what God wants me to do with it to best teach a meaningful lesson." πŸ˜

We had a Zone Conference this week about teaching simply. Really teaching to the needs of someone who is a baby in the Gospel. We got back and asked Sister Shoaf if we could practice some new pointers we got with her and her family after dinner. She said it would be the perfect opportunity, because Yuliya (her exchange student from last week's update) would be there with her friend Polina, who is also a Ukrainian exchange student. It was magic as we taught. Just having it be so simple...there was a light in their eyes. They are both really good at English, but they had never heard of the word repent before, even in their own language! To teach someone about how simple the Gospel really is was beautiful for all of us.

Joseph Smith said, “The fundamental principles of our religion are the testimony of the Apostles and Prophets, concerning Jesus Christ, that He died, was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended into heaven; and all other things which pertain to our religion are only appendages to it...After all that has been said, the greatest and most important duty is to preach the Gospel."

"Wherefore, how great the importance to make these things known unto the inhabitants of the earth, that they may know that there is no flesh that can dwell in the presence of God, save it be through the merits, and mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah, who layeth down his life according to the flesh, and taketh it again by the power of the Spirit, that he may bring to pass the resurrection of the dead, being the first that should rise." (2 Nephi 2:8)

Pray for the ability see the missionary experiences you have in your life; you already have the opportunity. Then pray for the courage to act upon them. It doesn't have to be complicated, especially as we contemplate Easter coming up--it's so simple. He lived, He Atoned, He died, He lives again, and wants us back.

Love you, but Jesus loves you best,
Sister Pugmire.
