Hey Loved Ones,
Things I Thought Would Never Happen as a Missionary:Sister Pugmire: "Dear Heavenly Father..."
Daviana:"Wait I remember! Dear God, everything you done for us is like GOD, taking care of us, except it's NOT, it's Heavenly Father! Now Isaiah, you say half."
Sister Pugmire: "No, really."
Grandma Wilde: "No, it's true. Being stupid. I was playing football in the backyard with the grandkids, lunged behind to get the ball, and landed on my arm."
President's last week is this week. We had a Farewell Conference with dessert after, and it happened to land on my birthday, so it was a great day. (I also had a family we're teaching just happen to give me angel food cake with strawberries, which is like my favorite, and they didn't even know it was my birthday!)
Last week, President gave us a PCing challenge this week to have a Gospel conversation with 100 new people this week, invite 50 new people to church, and invite a new person to be baptized every day. Franklin being a small town, it was hard. One day we were on an assignment from Bishop's wife to scope out an apartment complex for Terri Matthews, but we were already behind on our PCing goal. We just decided to PC in the neighborhood and ask if it was a good place to live, and try to start a conversation with them.
We were nervous and decided to talk to the first lady we saw. Her name was Rashawn. We made small talk at first but got on the topic of church, of course. We asked if she knew anyone in our ward. We mentioned Crystal Smith, a member who lives not far from her. Rashawn's face lit up and she said she did. She told us she had to walk home from work one day and Sister Smith saw her and gave her a ride, without even knowing her. She was so touched by that Christian act. She told us she wanted to come to our church. As we left she began to get emotional and said she felt she was meant to meet us. Sister Smith gave her a ride to church, and the ward greeted her so warmly. But when we asked how she liked the service, she said it was different than she was used to--we assumed that was a bad thing. But Sister Smith confided that on the drive home, Rashawn had began crying and said what happened in church was just what she needed, and she wanted to be part of it. She has a lot of struggles, but because Sister Smith is her friend we know better how to help her.

The thing was, I don't think she would have even agreed to come to church if Sister Smith hadn't done that one Christian act, just because she saw someone she could help. Sister Smith hardly remembered it in retrospect, but Rashawn did.
Remember that I love you, but Jesus loves you BEST!
Sister Pugmire
